UNDP partners with people at all levels of society to help build nations that can withstand crisis and sustain the kind of growth that improves the quality of life for everyone. On the ground in about 170 countries and territories, we offer global perspectives and local insight to help empower lives and build resilient nations.

In September 2015, world leaders adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. UNDP is working to strengthen new frameworks for development, disaster risk reduction and climate change. It supports countries' efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, or Global Goals, which will guide global development priorities through 2030.

UNDP South Africa is working with the Government and people of South Africa, the private sector, academia, Civil Society Organisations and partners to address the triple development challenges of poverty, income inequality and unemployment. This is done through promoting better governance, inclusive and people-centred growth, energy access, climate resilience and sustainable development.
