One municipal ward by-election will take place in the Free State province on Wednesday, 13 June 2018.
The by-elections will be contested by three candidates from three political parties.
• Ward 2 in Letsemeng Municipality – FS161 will be contested by Pascal Velaphi Mlozana of the African National Congress (ANC); Kempen Willem Nel of the Congress of the People (COPE); and Dashia Dikgokgodi Matshediso Jantjies of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). The ward was previously represented by the ANC and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor.
The voter turnout for this ward in the 2016 Municipal Elections was 59.21% and the ANC candidate won the ward with 83.32% of valid votes.
