CANDIDATES CONTESTING MUNICIPAL BY-ELECTIONS ON 1 NOVEMBER 2017
One municipal ward by-election will take place in Elundini Municipality, in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday, 1 November 2017.
Two candidates will be contesting the by-election from two political parties.
The by-election will take place as follows:
• Ward 12 in the Elundini Municipality – EC141 will be contested by Bongani Julius Tshoba of the African National Congress (ANC), and Mamorapedi Tsoloane of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). The ward was previously represented by the ANC and became vacant as a result of the death of the councillor.
The voter turnout for this ward in the 2016 Municipal Elections was 62.14% and the ANC candidate won the ward with 87.39% of valid votes.
CANDIDATES CONTESTING MUNICIPAL BY-ELECTIONS ON 2 NOVEMBER 2017
One municipal ward by-election will take place in Buffalo City, in the Eastern Cape, on Thursday, 2 November 2017.
The by-election will be contested by four candidates from four political parties.
The by-election will take place as follows:
• Ward 27 in the Buffalo City Municipality – BUF will be contested by Boy-Boy Kalani of the African National Congress (ANC), Vusumzi Brandon Jako of the Democratic Alliance (DA), Buyani Mqadaru of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), and Siphumo Sokoyi of the United Front of the Eastern Cape (UFEC). The ward was previously represented by the ANC and became vacant as a result of termination of councillor membership from the party.
The voter turnout for this ward in the 2016 Municipal Elections was 62.56% and the ANC candidate won the ward with 55.26% of valid votes.
