One municipal ward by-election will take place in the Western Cape province on Wednesday, 5 December 2018.
The by-election will be contested by four candidates from four political parties.
Ward 09 in Witzenberg Municipality – WC022 will be contested by Mxolisi Joseph Ndaba from the African National Congress (ANC), Johannes Jacobus Mars from Congress of the People (COPE), Koos Goeieman from the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Isak Lluwellyne Swartz from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
The ward was previously represented by the ANC and became vacant as a result of the councillor’s resignation.
The voter turnout for this ward in the 2016 municipal elections was 38.14% and the ANC candidate won the ward with 48.19% of valid votes.
