One municipal ward by-election is taking place in the North West
province today, Wednesday, 20 February 2019.
The by-elections will be contested by one independent candidate and
three candidates from 3 political parties.
Ward 4 in Naledi Municipality – NW392 will be contested by Gaoretelelwe Nathaniel Molebalwa, an independent
candidate; Lopez Mongameli Moeng from the African National Congress (ANC),
Kagiso Kevin Kgajane from the Congress of the People (COPE); and Mogomotsi
Matthews Peloeng from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
The ward was previously represented by the ANC and became vacant as a
result of the death of the councillor.
The voter turnout for this ward in the 2016 municipal elections was
58.67% and the ANC candidate won the ward with 76.05% of valid votes.
The voting stations for the ward are Pule Leeuw High School for voting
district 86770075, and Retladira Primary School for voting district 86770176.
Voting stations are open from 7am to 9pm today. Remember to bring your
valid South Africa identity document.
