Ward to be contested in municipal by-elections on 8 March 2017

A municipal ward by-election will take place in the Mpumalanga province on Wednesday 8 March 2017.

Voting will take place in Ward 11 in MP316 Dr JS Moroka Municipality at the following voting stations:

Voting District/Station Number      Voting Station Details
54590126                                        Thabang Combined Primary School
54590272                                        Sihlangene Junior Primary School
54590328                                        Mayisha High School

The by-election follows a December ruling by the Electoral Court which ordered that a by-election be held in VD 54590272 following irregularities in special voting which occurred ahead of the 2016 Municipal Elections resulting in perceptions that the election in that voting district may not have been free and fair.

The above voting stations will be open this Saturday 21 January and Sunday 22 January from 08h00 to 17h00 to allow eligible voters the opportunity to verify and update their registration and address details.

Voters may also check and update their details at their local IEC office during office hours.

The draft election timetable for this by-election is attached.

For more information on these by-elections, including special votes, contact your local Municipal Electoral Officer during office hours. Contact details for Municipal Electoral Officers are available on the IEC website at www.elections.org.za under Contact Us.
