Centurion – During the by-elections contested yesterday in the Eastern Cape, the Democratic Alliance (DA) retained the two seats it won in the 2016 Municipal Elections.
The new DA councillors are:
- Helga Christelle Van Staaden in Ward 35 in Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality – NMA. The party retained the seat it won in the 2016 Municipal Elections, with 83.21% of the votes cast compared to 83.83% in the 2016 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout yesterday was 28.39%.
- Georgina Faldtman in Ward 37 in Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality – NMA. The party retained the seat it won in the 2016 Municipal Elections, with 54.95% of the votes cast compared to 68.66% in the 2016 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout yesterday was 36.67%.
