In the by-election held on Wednesday, 15 April 2026 in the Eastern Cape, the African National Congress (ANC) retained the seat it held in the 2021 Municipal Elections.

The new ANC Councillor is:
- Mntuwoxolo
Hobson Maranjana in Ward 09 in the Sakhisizwe Municipality,
EC138. The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections
with 84.45% of the total votes cast, compared to 59.98% in the 2021 Municipal
Elections. Voter turnout was 47.15%.
