The Electoral Commission (IEC) has requested the KZN MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs to postpone the by-election in ward 39, eThekwini [Durban Metro] – ETH, following allegations of voter registration fraud ahead of the scheduled by-election on 3 July 2013.
An investigation is presently underway to determine the veracity of these allegations of voter registration fraud.
The immediate implication is that the by-election will no longer proceed on Wednesday, 3 July 2013 as scheduled. The Commission will advise on further arrangements for the filling of this vacancy.
It is brought to the attention of voters registered in this ward that no voting will take place at the following voting stations:
