The Electoral Commission has officially commenced its Outreach Training of Trainers programme in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal, on 26 November 2025, marking a major milestone in preparations to welcome 834 Municipal Outreach Coordinators (MOCs) in January 2026.

Tuesday, 25 November 2025

Thirty-three candidates representing 11 political parties, along with one independent candidate, will contest the by-elections scheduled for 26 November 2025 in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Northern Cape.

In the by-elections held in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, North-west and Western Cape provinces on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, the African National Congress (ANC) retained its seats in the Eastern Cape, Limpopo and Western Cape while Patriotic Alliance won a seat in Gauteng and Western Cape.  The ActionSA won a seat in North-West.
