In the by-elections held on
Wednesday, 17 September 2025, in KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo, the Democratic
Alliance (DA) and the African National Congress (ANC) retained the seats they
won in the 2021 Local Government Elections.
KwaZulu-Natal
The new DA Councillor is:
- Norman Gilbert, in ward 64 in the eThekwini Metropolitan
Municipality, ETH, KwaZulu-Natal. The
party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with
63.01% of the total votes cast, compared to 55.79% during the 2021
Municipal Elections. Voter turnout was 24.38%.
Limpopo
The new ANC Councillor is:
- Collins Nkwane Maleswene, in ward 09 in the Ephraim Mogale Local
Municipality, LIM471, Limpopo. The party
retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 69.08% of
the total votes cast, compared to 65.61% during the 2021 Municipal
Elections. Voter turnout was 48.87%.
