2021 Municipal Elections

South Africa's municipal elections will be held on 01 November 2021 to elect councils for all district, metropolitan and local municipalities in each of the country's nine provinces.
These will be the sixth municipal elections held in South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994 – municipal elections are held every five years.

Thursday, 10 October 2024

The African National Congress (ANC) retained three seats and won another seat in the by-elections held on Wednesday, 9 October 2024. The new seat was previously occupied by the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Northern Cape. 

Tuesday, 08 October 2024

Members of the media are informed that the voter registration for ward 39 in Polokwane Municipality. The municipal by-election will take place on Wednesday 13 November 2024.  

Voting stations will be open on Saturday, 28 September 2024, and Sunday, 29 September 2024, from 08h00 to 17h00 to allow all eligible voters to register and for current voters to check their registration details and to provide/update address details where necessary.
