9th International Electoral Affairs Symposium held in South Africa

The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) is pleased to partner with the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies (iCPS) to host the 9th International Electoral Affairs Symposium & International Electoral Awards Ceremony outside Cape Town, South Africa from 3 - 5 December 2014.

It is the first time the event is being held in South Africa and was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first democratic elections in our country.

The event will take place at the Arabella Hotel and Spa in Kleinmond in the Western Cape.

The Electoral Affairs Symposium will bring together representatives from the electoral democracy community and election management bodies from around the world to share best practice initiatives, assess new technologies and tools and develop innovative strategies that they can then put into practice in their respective countries and regions.

The symposium will culminate in the 2nd annual International Electoral Awards on Friday evening which will recognise outstanding achievements by individuals and organisations in a range of categories linked to enhancing democracy.

The symposium is expected to draw over 120 delegates from 40 counties along with service providers in the electoral democracy industry which will showcase their goods and services in a small trade fair on the fringes of the symposium.
