The African National Congress has retained the two wards it won in the 2016 Municipal Elections in by-elections contested yesterday in the Eastern Cape and Free State provinces.
The new councillors for the African National Congress are:
• Mpumelelo Elias Mapholoba in Ward 16 in the Mbizana Municipality – EC443. The seat was retained by the party with 83.84% of the 1 993 votes cast. Voter turnout was 45.50%.
• Nozenza Betty Cezula in Ward 39 in the Mangaung Municipality – MAN. The seat was retained by the party with 45.29% of the 5 379 votes cast. Voter turnout was 51.64%.
