The African
National Congress won both wards in the by-elections contested in KwaZulu-Natal
province yesterday.
The results saw the
party retaining the wards they won in the 2016 Municipal Elections in August.
Voter turnout
varied in the by-elections between 55.76% and 62.26% with an average of 59.23%.
The new councillors for the African National
Congress are:
- Sipho Francis Ntombela in Ward 31 in the
uMhlathuze Municipality – KZN282. The seat was retained by the party with
63.02% of the 3 164 votes cast. Voter turnout was 55.76%.
- Mntozofika Ndlovu in Ward 32 in the
uMhlathuze Municipality – KZN282. The seat was retained by the party with
63.39.% of the 4 026 votes cast. Voter turnout was 62.26%.
