During the by-elections contested yesterday in KwaZulu-Natal, the African National Congress (ANC) and the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) retained one seat each.
The new councillor for the ANC is:
• Nontobeko Yvonne Khumalo in Ward 9 in Msunduzi Municipality – KZN225. The party retained the seat it won in the 2016 Municipal Elections, with 52.57% of the votes cast compared to 71.06% in the 2016 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout yesterday was 46.77%.
The new councillor for the IFP is:
• Philile Sindisiwe Nhleko in Ward 20 in Nongoma Municipality – KZN265. The party retained the seat it won in the 2016 Municipal Elections, with 46.59% of the votes cast compared to 57.47% in the 2016 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout yesterday was 52.07%.
