Wards to be contested in the municipal by-elections of 28 March 2012

Municipal ward by-elections will take place in six provinces namely Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Western Cape on Wednesday, 28 March 2012.

A total of fourteen (14) wards will be contested. Voting will take place in 84 voting districts in the following wards:

Eastern Cape:
• Ward 4 in Emalahleni [Lady Frere] Municipality – EC136 with 3 091 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant as a result of death of the councillor;
• Ward 13 in Elundini [Mount Fletcher] Municipality – EC141 with 3 480 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant as a result of resignation of the councillor;
• Ward 6 in Umzimvubu [Mount Ayliff] Municipality – EC442 with 2 993 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant as a result of resignation of the councillor;
• Ward 8 in Mbizana [Bizana] Municipality – EC443 with 4 012 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant as a result of death of the councillor;
• Ward 10 in Ntabankulu [Ntabankulu] Municipality – EC444 with 2 961 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant as a result of death of the councillor;
• Ward 15 in Nelson Mandela Bay [Port Elizabeth] Municipality – NMA with 8 457 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant as a result of death of the councillor;
• Ward 26 in Nelson Mandela Bay [Port Elizabeth] Municipality NMA with 7 661 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant as a result of death of the councillor;
• Ward 55 in Nelson Mandela Bay [Port Elizabeth] Municipality with 10 368 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant as a result of death of a councillor;

Free State:
Ward 6 in Mafube [Frankfort] Municipality – FS205 with 3 051 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant due to death of the councillor.

Gauteng:
• Ward 8 in Midvaal [Meyerton] Municipality – GT422 with 3 950 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant due to the death of the councillor.

KwaZulu-Natal:
• Ward 56 in eThekwini [Durban Metro] Municipality – ETH with 17 544 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant due to death of the councillor;
• Ward 12 in Nongoma [Nongoma] Municipality – KNZ265 with 4 091 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by Inkatha Freedom Party and became vacant due to expulsion of the councillor.

Limpopo:
• Ward 24 in Makhado [Louis Trichardt] Municipality – LIM344 with 6 310 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant due to death of the councillor.

Western Cape:
• Ward 12 in Saldanha Bay [West Coast Peninsula] Municipality – WC014 with 3 459 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by African National Congress and became vacant due to resignation of the councillor.
